Powder River

The western edge of the Powder River is bounded by the Big Horn Mountains. It flows south from Cloud Peak Wilderness. It is extremely sacred land to the American Indians who lived in the area and witnessed the endless stream of settlers, even burning a fort along the Bozeman Trail in protest.

The Wind River flows through the Wind River Indian Reservation in west central Wyoming's Fremont County. Nearby towns include Riverton, Lander, Ethete and Morton.
