Rockpile Museum

Search Gillette Wyoming

Named for a nearby rock formation, the museum tells the story of Gillette and Campbell County. Prior to white settlement, American Indian tribes roamed the area, leaving behind points, projectiles, scrapers, and grinding stones. In 1891, modern-day Gillette was born at the end of the railhead. From cowboys, sheepherders, homesteaders, trappers, and merchants to rifles, saddles, clothing, barbed wire and newspapers, the museum captures the flavor and history of Campbell County. A visit to the Rockpile Museum promises an honest look at life in both the Old and New West.
