The best known of the Park features is the Wolf Den where, on a night in 1742, Israel Putnam crept and shot a wolf which for years had preyed upon local sheep and poultry. This same Israel Putnam was later to gain fame as a Major General in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. The Den is near the Table Rock and Indian Chair stone formations.
The 860-acre park offers a picnic shelter, concession, drinking water, changing houses, flush toilets, and gravel parking. Open daily, weekends and holidays.
The Park is located 3 miles south of Pomfret and 5 miles southwest of Putnam.
