Eastern Shore Americana produces hand-carved and painted fish decoys representing more than 80 species. They offer a wide variety of wooden fishes from neon colored angelfish of the tropics to a variety of freshwater trout.
The land to the east of the Chesapeake Bay seems to belong to a bygone time. The pace is slower. Woodcarving is a popular tradition among watermen. They make what a grandfather might hand down to his family. In operation since 1988, all of the fish at Eastern Shore Americana are hand-carved from solid, kiln-dried wood. The "antique style" finish is applied using many layers of lead-free and weather resistant materials. Each carving is stamped with the ancient Christian fish symbol and hand-signed by the artist.
