Barrie

A year round recreation area on the west side of Kempenfelt Bay on Lake Simcoe. In the summer, water-skiers, swimmers, sailors, and golfers enjoy the lake, one of Ontario's largest. Winter brings skiers and snowmobilers to the many trails and nearby winter sports facilities. Year round, visitors can enjoy bass and trout fishing and harness racing at nearby Barrie Raceway. Community events include Winterfest in February, the Highland Games in July, and the Kempenfest Summer Festival in August, one of the largest outdoor arts and crafts festivals in North America. The Gryphon Theatre offers concerts, special events, and major professional productions.
