The new HealthSouth Metro West Hospital, formerly Lloyd Noland Hospital, is a 319-bed hospital that can be seen from Interstate 20/59 in [fairfield], Alabama. The hospital has been part of the community for 90 years. It was at one time the primary hospital in Jefferson County.
A new professional building for physician office space, new and renovated operating rooms make HealthSouth Metro West a health care center for the entire Birmingham area.
[fairfield] Mayor Larry Langford, with the city council, created the Fairfield Healthcare Authority to purchase the hospital from Tenet Healthcare Corp. in mid-1999. Through Langford's friendship with HealthSouth Corp. CEO Richard Scrushy, HealthSouth came on board with cash for the purchase and renovation.
