Tallassee is located in Elmore County (Central Region), 35 miles NE of Montgomery along Highway 229 on the banks of the the Alabama River near Lake Martin placing it as part of the Montgomery, Alabama metro area.


With the city being in a prime location, recreation and education are part of the higher standards of the city. With the amount of buisness that goes on it still does not take away from the leisure activities of the residents.
The city also has pride in its standard for higher education at the excellent city school system including elementary, middle, and high schools.
