Vernon is located approximately 140 miles north of the U.S. border, approximately 258 miles northeast of Vancouver. Perched 1249 feet above sea level, Vernon receives 1,903 hours of sunshine, and only 9.75 inches of rain per year. Snowfall averages approximately 40 inches per year. The average June-September temperature is 75 degrees fahrenheit (24 C), good for spending days at one of Vernon's many beaches. From October to May, temperatures average 28 degrees (-2 C), allowing for great skiing and ice skating at the outdoor rink.
