The San Diego Natural History Museum is dedicated to interpreting the natural world through research, education, and exhibits; to promote understanding of the evolution and diversity of Southern California and the peninsula of Baja California; and to inspire in all people respect for the environment.
Displays such as architectural drawings, maps, photographs, art, household goods and furniture demonstrate the growth of the San Diego region since the 1850's. There are also traveling exhibits on display. The museum is closed Mondays, Tuesdays, New Years Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas. The Museum is located in Balboa Park.
