The Julian Pioneer Museum first opened its doors to the public in 1952. Originally, the museum was a blacksmith shop and then was later turned into a brewery for Peter Meyerhof. The museum displays over 2120 square feet of historical exhibits. Some of its historic memorabilia dates back to the Julian Gold Rush Days of 1869. It is home to the finest lace collection in California, 1896-1913 clothing, household equipment, spinning wheels, dolls, furniture, pioneer historical records, photographs, Native American artifacts, machine and woodworking tools, and of course mining equipment.
There is a shaded picnic area with restrooms. Tour and school groups are always welcome. The museum is open from 10 am - 4 pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Legal Holidays except for Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Day. It is open daily from April 1 through November. Admission to the museum is by donation.
