The Anacostia Museum is a community based and constituency focused museum that increases public awareness of the African American experience through research, programs and exhibitions. It is also a national resource for the identification, documentation, protection, and interpretation of African American history and culture in Washington, D.C., and in those areas of the rural South that have been historically significant to generations of African Americans.
