Located at the west end of Lincoln Park on E. Capitol Street, this statue depicts a slave being liberated by Abraham Lincoln. Created by Thomas Ball, the sculpture was paid for by donations from emancipated slaves and dedicated in 1876 with Frederick Douglass in attendance. Also in Lincoln Park is the Mary McLeod Bethune Memorial.
