Located near the ruined Norman keep of Clitheroe Castle, this museum displays both local geology and history exhibits. Featured are reconstructions of a cottage interior, a cloggers shop and a printers workshop. Area history from earliest times is illustrated in the museum's first floor geology displays, including Salthill, the local limestone quarry with a geological trail that can be followed on foot. For those less energetic, the geology of the Ribble Valley can be seen from your car in the Roadside Geology Gallery. Open daily, Easter to September; closed Thurs-Fri, October to March. Closed throughout January; open bank holidays. Visitor enquiries tel (01200) 424635, Curator (01200) 424568
