Built between 1600-1605, with later mid-19th century additions, the house maintains a strong association with the Shuttleworth family who were established at Gawthorpe Hall for over 200 years. Today, the Hall houses an internationally important collection of needlework, lace and costume as collected by the late Hon. Rachel Kay - Shuttleworth. Part of this collection is on display in an exhibition which demonstrates the form and history of a wide range of needlecraft techniques. Of interest to visitors are a major collection of 17th-century National Portrait Gallery paintings, gardens and wooded estate, tea room and shop. Special events and exhibitions presented. Open April-end of October. Tel: +44 (0)1282 771 004, Fax: +44 (0)1282 770 178
