The largest Anglican Cathedral in Britain and one of the great buildings of the 20th century. Architectural features include the massive tower, high gothic arches, the largest organ, and heaviest ring of bells; the Cathedral is used for many purposes, including worship, concerts, exhibitions, recitals, and displays. The Tower is the best vantage point from which to view the whole of Merseyside. An Embroidery Exhibition displays a unique collection of Victorian and Edwardian embroidery housed on a triforium gallery which affords breath-taking views down the Cathedral. Open from 8am-6pm. Visitors are welcome at services, guides are on hand, and the Cathedral offers a range of facilities including a restaurant and visitor center.
