Heyburn State Park |

Heyburn, on Chatcolet Lake, became the first state park in the Pacific Northwest in 1908 and is one of the oldest in the nation. Over 5,500 acres of land and 2,300 acres of water are home to wildlife of all kinds.
A "must see" is the famous river between the lakes where the shadowy St. Joe meanders through Chatcolet, Hidden, Round and Benewah Lakes. Heron and Osprey are especially common. One of the most unusual aspects of the park is the annual harvest of wild rice in the fall. The park features weekly special events at Hawleys Landing Amphitheater including lectures, slideshows and programs. The park is between Plummer and St Maries on Highway 5.
Many of Idaho's most beautiful and scenic spots are preserved in the Idaho State Parks system.
