From the western border with Oregon across more than half the state, Highway 30 coincides with Interstate 84. Then, a few miles east of Burley, the two separate, with Interstate 84 heading southeast and Highway 30 following the Snake River northeast to Pocatello. After following Interstate 15 south for a while, it turns east through Lava Hot Springs and Soda Springs. At Montpelier, it loops through Paris and Fish Haven past Bear Lake and into Utah.
