Algonquin is located in northeastern Illinois in southern McHenry County northwest of Chicago between Elgin and Marengo at the intersection of SRs 31 and 62 about 25 miles inland from Lake Michigan.This turn-of-the-century village on the banks of the Fox River is home to many antique shops, restaurants and B&Bs. In addition, the Golf Club of Illinois offers a challenge for golfers of all skill levels.
