Griggsville is located in western Illinois in Pike County about 5 miles west of the Illinois River north of Interstate 72 about 10 miles northeast of Pittsfield, the county seat. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 1,205, a decrease of 13 since 1990.The Ray Norbut SFWA provides the area with about 1,200 acres of habitat for hunters and hikers alike.
