Meredosia is located western Illinois in northwestern Morgan County on the banks of the Illinois River near the Brown County and Scott County lines along SRs 99 and 104 about 50 miles west of Springfield and 2 miles south of Meredosia Lake. The population is about 1,300.Recreation in the area includes day-trips to the 4,000-acre Meredosia NWR located north of town.
