Spring Grove is located in northeastern Illinois in McHenry County northwest of Chicago between Richmond and Antioch along Highway 31 near Grass Lake (in the NE Illinois' Chain O' Lakes system) and the Wisconsin state line. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 3,285, an increase of 2,219 since 1990.
