The Trace Inn restaurant is named for the Cahokia Trace, which passes through
Red Hills State Park near
Sumner in southeastern Illinois. The Trace was an important overland route for early pioneers traveling from Ohio and Kentucky to St. Louis. The rustic Trace Inn restaurant is furnished with maple tables and chairs and provides seating for 100 guests. It also offers scenic outdoor dining on a new deck overlooking Red Hills Lake. A gift shop offering crafts and antiques is on site.
