Founded: 1854, Pop: 1074, Elev: 1055 feet. Located in Osage County within the East Region of the state, about 10 miles away from Osage City. Burlingame is at the junction of US Highway 56 and State Highway 31 where the old Santa Fe Trail crosses the Santa Fe Railroad.

The nearest major outdoor recreation are Pomona Lake - and Clinton Lake to the east.

The center of a prosperous farming community, with rolling terrain and sufficient rainfall produce many tree-lined streams and creeks. Fishing, boating and other water recreation may be found nearby at Federal Reservoirs and State Lakes. Topeka, the capital city of Kansas, is only a few miles to the north.

Heart of America Shakespeare Festival Kansas City MO June18-July7 The Heart of America Shakespeare Festival is set under the stars in South Moreland Park near Nelson Atkins Museum of Art. It is a perfect way to spend a summer evening with family and friends. They have several programs to study and explore such as Speaker's Bureau and Poster and Sonnet Contest. The faculty includes theatre professionals, actors, and educators experienced in performing and teaching Shakespeare. Many of the instructors are veterans of festival productions.
