Located within the Daniel Boone National Forest, this 125-foot-wide waterfall, which drops 67 feet into the boulder strewn gorge of the Cumberland River is the park's outstanding feature. The water strikes the bottom with such force that a perpetual mist hovers over the valley, creating a 'moonbow' on clear nights during a full moon; this is the only site in the Western Hemisphere where this phenomenon can be observed.
Accomodations within the park are available at the historic DuPont Lodge, and one- and two-bedrooom cottage rentals; a seasonal campground is operational April-end of October. The Blair Museum, located within the lodge, displays natural history exhibits and local Native American artifacts; other recreation includes hiking on 17 miles of scenic trails, a lodge recreation area with Olympic-size swimming pool, and fishing in the Cumberland River. Park is open daily 24 hours.
