This center contains the world's largest gathering of Audubon memorabilia and one of the most extensive collections of his works, including 435 original prints from the 1839 folio edition of 'The Birds of America.' Other museum highlights include a complete collection of Audubon's publications, and a life storyline.
The Nature Center consists of an binocular-equipped Observation Room, overlooking a garden of native plants and a woodland pond; a Discovery Center, which offers children a variety of hands-on activities; and a Learning Center, where a naturalist and an art educator are available in a classroom setting. Special events and activities are sponsored here throughout the year.
Located within John James Audubon State Park; the 692-acre grounds include 5 1/2 miles of various-length nature trails, a Challenge Course, a 325-acre nature preserve, and a 28-acre lake. Open daily; closed Thanksgiving Day, one week during Christmas, and New Year's Day.
