On June 3, 1781, Jouett reportedly rode horseback for 40 miles to Charlottesville, Va. to warn delegates of the British invasion. The house contains three rooms with painted fireplace mantels, two bedrooms accessed by a sharply turning stairway, and a stone-lined cellar. Also on display are paintings by Jouett's son, Matthew.
