Located at the west end of Main Street in Hobson Grove Park, this is an outstanding example of Italianate architecture popular in the mid-19th century, completed in 1872. The partially completed home became a munitions magazine while the Confederates held Bowling Green during the winter of 1861-62.
The restored home and furnishings reflect the lifestyle of a prosperous Southern Victorian family; highlights include Palladian windows, frescoed ceilings and late-19th century articles and interiors. Guided tours offer a look at Victorian-period family life on the third Saturday morning of the month.
Open six days a week, Riverview is closed on Mondays, the month of January, and most major holidays.
