This museum focuses on the Stearns Company, which operated the first electric sawmill east of the Mississippi as well as owning and operating Stearns from the early 1900s through the mid-1960s. The company played an instrumental role in the development of the area, providing running water and electricity for its employees' families.
Museum exhibits include replicas of early-18th century kitchens and a country general store; other displays include a moonshine still, American Indian artifacts, early mining and lumbering equipment, railway memorabilia and metal and paper scrip.
