Washington is located in St. Landry Parish within the Cajun Country Region, north of Lafayette between Opelousas and Alexandria along Hwy 182 on the banks of the Bayou Courtableau near Ville Platte and the Thistlethwaite Wildlife Management Area. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 1,345, an increase of 92 since 1990.
