Abbe Museum |
For thousands of years, Native Americans have lived on the coast of what is now Maine. Their story is told in a museum devoted to the history, archaeology, and cultures of Maine's four tribes; the Maliseet, Micmac, Passamaquoddy, and Penobscot. TheAbbe Museum is located at Sieur de Monts Spring in Acadia National Park, near Bar Harbor. A private non-for-profit organization, it first opened in 1928.
The Museum will open on May 25, 2001.
