Dodge Point encompasses 506 acres of preserved forest habitat, with several miles of shoreline along the Damariscotta River, featuring sand and pebble beaches; other highlights include a freshwater pond, beaver flowage and bog, and scenic stream-cut ravines in the site's interior uplands. Year-round recreation includes cross-country skiing trails, open in the winter, and a network of hiking trails providing scenic views of the estuary, the woods, and a historic ice pond; skating, swimming, and fishing are also enjoyed within the Dodge Point site. The area is open dawn-dusk for day use only; no camping is permitted within the preserve. The Dodge Point Preserve can also be accessed by boat from the public landing in Damariscotta.
