Three million acres in the Superior National Forest are white-capped by more than 10 feet of powder from November to mid-April, for exceptional recreational skiing. A well-marked network of more than 58km of groomed trails wind over hillsides and around bodies of water. Trails are designed to challenge all skill levels, however, the runs require a certain level of proficiency to be enjoyed. In the middle of this pristine setting, the Golden Eagle Lodge offers a waxing room and accomodations in 11 secluded and spacious guest cabins. Modern and fully furnished, cabins feature privacy locations facing Flour Lake, some with whirlpool tubs. Ski cabin-to-cabin the length of the Gunflint Trail; also snowshoeing and ice skating, night skiing, campfires in 22-ft-diameter Indian Tipi, guided wildlife tours, and dogsledding nearby.
