Lewis and Clark National Historic TrailInterpretive Center |
Exhibits at the center detail the 1804-1806 Lewis and Clark Expedition with focus on their interactions with the Plains Indians. Cultural exhibits have been coordinated wth the Crow, Blackfeet, Nez Perce, Salish, Pend d'Oreille, Hidatsa, and Shoshone people. The feature exhibit is a two-story diorama of the portage around the great falls of the Missouri River, including five full-size figures and a 30-foot canoe on a realistic landform. Theater production features a 30-minute introductory film by acclaimed filmmaker Ken Burns.
Located on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River in Giant Springs Heritage State Park. Open late May through Labor Day, 9:00 to 8:00, seven days a week.
