Seneca county, formed in 1820 from a part of Huron county, is located in north central Ohio with Tiffin acting as the county seat. The county population on July 1, 1999, was 59,768, an increase of 35 over the 1990 census.County assets include the Sandusky River which flows from south to north through the middle of the county on its way to Lake Erie, Honey Creek flowing east to west emptying into the Sandusky, Tiffin University and Heidelberg University. Of interest to history buffs or casual observers are the Beatty Glass Company, Bowman's Distillery, College Hall and Founders Hall (on the Heidelberg campus) all in Tiffin; Omar Chapel near Attica and the Fostoria Downtown Historic District.
