Northeastern State University is located in
Tahlequah, in
Cherokee County about 15 miles east of
Fort Gibson Lake. The 200-acre campus is about 70 miles southeast of
Tulsa.
The University was founded in 1846 and is a public institution offering programs in arts and sciences, professional training, teacher preparation and business. There are five undergraduate schools and one graduate school. Including residence halls there are 25 buildings.
Students are encouraged to check out the fraternities, sororities and over 75 clubs and organizations. Tours of the campus are available through the admissions office.
