Elkton

This historic town is located in the Douglas County, southwest of Eugene, between Scottsburg and Drain, at the junction of Hwy 138 and Hwy 38 within the Umpqua National Forest, along the banks of the Umpqua River.

The Hudson’s Bay Company maintained Fort Umpqua in the vicinity, and Elkton was an early-day Douglas County seat. Settlers planted fields of wheat, while loggers went to work clearing the woods. The raw products ended up at the Elkton Saw and Flouring Mills. The town has a long history of fires and floods, and few original structures remain. There are a few stores that serve residents and travelers on Highway 38, which passes through Elkton from the Oregon Coast to Interstate 5. This community was settled in the 1850s

Elkton is a renowned trout, small mouth bass, salmon, steelhead and shad fishing hot spot. Other attractions include: Two wineries, Graffiti Weekend, hunting and the Wildflower Show.

There is also an Elkton, Maryland.
