Our name, Soroptimist, was coined from the Latin word "soror" and "optima", meaning the "best for women". Soroptimists are women of all ages, cultures and ethnic groups who are known leaders in their firelds.To maintain high ethical standards in business and professional life.Strive for human rights for all people and in particular, to advance the status of women.To develop a spirit of friendship and unity amoung Soroptimist of all countries.To develop interest in community, national and international affairs.To contribute to international understanding and universal frinedships.To develop the highest concept of patriotism.At the commuity level we support projects of our choice by providing financial assistance and hands-on time and talent. Some of the local projects have been: Focus-4, Siuslaw Public Library, Peace Health Hospital, yearly Christmas Basket programs and several scholarship programs.
