Millwood Plantation Ruins |
Millwood Plantation was once a grand southern plantation, with 13,000 acres of land and a beautiful mansion. It belonged to General Wade Hampton III, a Confederate general, US Senator, and South Carolina Governor. During Sherman's occupation of Columbia in 1865 during the Civil War, the home was burned to the ground.
Take the tour and find out more about the plantation and the people who lived there. Millwood, General Wade Hampton's plantation, was burned during the War Between the States, but his home in town survived. Tours of the plantation are conducted by appointment. Admission is free to the public.
