Heritage Hall Museum is located on the campus of Freeman Academy. Essentially, however, it is a community museum, representing the area in and around Freeman, which is largely a rural community founded a century ago by settlers of German, Swiss and Scandinavian extraction, religiously affiliated with the Mennonite, Reformed and Lutheran Churches.
Cultural artifacts depicting the past life of this community have become the chief feature of Heritage Hall Museum.
Additional features are: Bernie Preheim Collection of about 100 mounted birds and animals native to this area; Prairie home with Russian oven; and geological and mineralogical specimens.
The Heritage Hall Museum and Archive is of private authority and is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from June to August.
