Considered to be the oldest and largest operating underground gold mine in the Western Hemisphere, Homestake has operated continuously since 1876 and currently produces more than 200,000 ounces of gold annually. The visitor center features mining artifacts and an audiovisual presentation illustrating techniques of gold mining and refining.
