This grand, restored circa 1890s Richardson Romanesque-style native pink quartzite courthouse features architectural details such as an 1893 clock tower, 16 wall murals painted 1915-17, and spires that rise above the city skyline. The National Historic Landmark was opened as a museum in 1974, housing two floors of changing and permanent natural and cultural history exhibits. Events include traditional live music concerts in the plaza, historic walking tours, astronomy programs and children's activities.
