Located in Southeastern/Southwestern Utah, this route encompasses the state's outstanding National Parks and Monuments. Beginning at Hwy 89 near Big Water, near the Arizona border, west to Hwy 9 at the Mt Carmel junction, the road continues west through Zion National Park, on Hwy 9 to Hwy 17 near La Verkin. Continuing north on Hwy 17 to I15 and its frontage roads, visitors go on to the Veterans Memorial Highway near Cedar City and Cedar Breaks National Monument. Other points of interest along the route include Red Canyon in the
Dixie National Forest, Bryce Canyon National Park, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Clem Church Memorial Highway over Boulder Mountain, Capitol Reef National Park near Hanksville, the Bicentennial Highway across
Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and
Lake Powell, skirting Natural Bridges National Monument, and accessing Canyon lands and Arches National Parks. The route ends with Hwy 191's merger at I70 near Crescent Junction.
