This site that is part of the George Washington Memorial Parkway, is an 800 acre park located along the Potomac River. From scenic overlooks the Potomac River can be viewed as it plunges in a series of picturesque falls and thundering rapids. The canal had a series of locks that enabled the boats to re-enter the river, having bypassed the falls.
