A tour of the park involves an 80-mile drive. The park includes the sites of the Seven Days' Battles at Beaver Dam Creek, Watt House (Gaines' Mill) and Malvern Hill. Several Confederate forts, including Harrison and Drewry's Bluff, and Union-built Fort Brady are in the park.
Today, the park preserves more than 1400 acres of Civil War resources in nine units plus the main visitor center at the famous Tredegar Iron Works. The Chimborazo Visitor Center houses a medical museum.
