Smithfield Plantation House

Located on the edge of the Virginia Tech campus, the house was built 1772-1773 by noted surveyor Colonel William Preston and named for his wife, Susanna Smith. Smithfield was one of the earliest and largest estates west of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Guided tours by costumed interpreters are available.
