National Elk Refuge

One of the continent's largest elk herds, between 7,500 and 10,000 head, make this refuge their winter home. The 24,700 acre refuge contains the animals from November through April. During the summer the elk migrate to mountain meadows in Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park and Bridger-Teton National Forest. Trumpeter swans and other wildlife migrate there as well, as the habitat is very comfortable for most wildlife in those regions. The visitor center in Jackson offers videos and exhibits about the wildlife found in this section of the US.

Located in western Wyoming in Teton County.
