Lincoln County is an oddly shaped county on the south eastern Wyoming border. Towns within this county include Kemmerer, Thayne, Afton, and Alpine. Star Valley takes up part of the northern section of the county on the Wyoming/Idaho border.
The Bridger-Teton National Forest takes up a section of the north east region of the county. Fossil Butte National Monument is located in the southern part of the county just north west of Kemmerer.

The county seat of Lincoln County, Wyoming, is Kemmerer. The county population on July 1, 1999, was 13,998, an increase of 1,373 over the 1990 census.
