East of Victoria, across the "Tweed Curtain" is the town of Oak Bay. To the west are Esquimalt and, farther out, Sooke. North of Victoria, on the Saanich Peninsula, are the communities of Saanichton, Swartz Bay, Brentwood Bay and Sidney.
