Amador County Museum

Armstead C. Brown, who was considered one of Jacksons earliest settlers, built the Amador County Museum building in 1859. The Brown home was designated to house the Amador County Museum in 1949. There are numerous trees and shrubs shading the surrounding lawns and gardens.

The museum collections include: A "Gold History Exhibit", "Dressed to the Nines" (fashions of the past), a Sewing and Quilt Exhibit, a Victorian Parlor, a Native American collection, a Chinese American collection, a Victorian Bedroom, an Old Fashioned Schoolroom, and much more Amador history.

The museum is open 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. The museum is closed Monday and Tuesday. Admission to the museum is by donation. Tours of the Kennedy Mine scale model are given Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on the hour.
