The coquina rock walls and chimneys are all that remain of the largest sugar mill of its time in eastern Florida, now listed on the National Register of Historic Sites. Completed in 1823, the sugar mill and plantation of Major Charles Bulow once played host to such personages as John James Audubon; the plantation was destroyed in the Seminole Indian War of 1836. The remaining sugar mill can be reached by driving a loop road or walking the Bulow Woods nature trail; an Interpretive Center includes original artifacts and exhibits on Bulow Plantation. Visitors to the site enjoy canoeing, picnicking, hiking and fishing; Bulow Creek is recognized as a State Canoe Trail and canoes can be rented at the park office; a boat ramp is also available from which to launch small powerboats. Located 3 miles west of Flagler Beach on the historic Old Kings Road (CR2001).
